ASD Player is a free multimedia application for mobile devices coming from developer app-dev. It is a video player app that is designed for simplicity and ease of use. It also has a built-in video downloader feature that can grab media from various online sources with provided URLs.
Compared to other popular options like VLC for Android or KMPlayer, ASD Player takes on a more minimalist approach. It boasts a clean and intuitive user interface and support for the most popular file formats available today. All of that results in quick navigation and speedy performance.
Quick play
Despite the massive popularity of online streaming services, there is a place for video players to exist. They cater to users with local media collections saved on their devices and will even work offline. However, not everyone wants all the features, all the time, and would be fine with just the basics. If you're one of these people, ASD Player is an option for you.
This multimedia app features a simple and straightforward UI that is divided into three sections. The first of those is Video, and it's where your movies, shows, and other video files will be shown in a folder structure. The aforementioned download feature is found in the Queue tab. Tap on the "+" icon, paste a URL, and the app will do the rest and download it for you.
Once completed, all your downloads will appear in the Finished section, ready to be played right away. What's more, the app supports batch downloading, so you can add multiple URLs to save time. One odd omission, though, is the lack of in-player volume controls. You can use your device's volume buttons for this, but it really should be added in a future update.
Simple yet effective
All in all, ASD Player is a decent option for a video player if you only need the basics and not much else. It's lightweight, easy to use, and just works. The video download feature is a nice bonus that plenty of users will appreciate. For its intended purpose, it gets the job and is worth giving a try. Check it out.
